Locks continue to be the most effective and popular way of securing doors, windows, storage units, specialised equipment, and more. The most-popular type of locks include deadbolt locks, padlocks, knob locks, lever-handle locks, mortice locks, and cam locks.

Deadbolt locks are often used on external doors. They come in both single-cylinder and double-cylinder varieties and feature a bolt that extends into the door frame. This means that the door cannot be opened without a key. Padlocks are portable locks that can be operated by a key or combination (or both together). These are often used to secure lockers, bikes, storage units, or gates. Knob locks include a lock mechanism inside the knob itself. These are commonly used on interior doors and are relatively simple to install and operate. They can, however, be used in conjunction with deadbolts.

Lever-handle locks consist of both a locking mechanism and a lever handle. The latch is retracted when the handle is pushed or pulled. These locks often also have keys or another locking mechanism, such as a keypad or smart lock, for added security. These locks are commonplace in commercial, residential, and public buildings. Mortice locks are primarily used on wooden doors. A pocket/mortice is cut into the door's edge. These locks have a lever mechanism and usually require a key. They are regarded as highly secure and durable.

Here at FA Parkes, we stock a wide variety of locks & lock cylinders for a range of different applications. This includes products from highly regarded brands such as DIRAK, EMKA, Weston Body Hardware, Lowe & Fletcher, and Industrilas. The majority of these locks are made from zinc or stainless steel, and are available in various sizes and finishes.

In addition to locks & lock cylinders, we also stock cylinder lock nuts. These are component parts of locks rather than the entire system and mean that you can often repair a lock rather than having to replace it.
