Locks - Slam

Slam locks, also known as slam latches or self-latching locks, are a type of locking mechanism commonly used in doors and cabinets. They are designed to automatically latch or lock when the door or closure is slammed or closed forcefully.

As with regular slam locks, keyed slam locks have a spring-loaded latch or bolt that automatically engages when the door or closure is slammed shut. This allows for quick and easy latching without having to be manually operated. In addition to the automatic latching mechanism, keyed slam locks have a separate key-operated lock cylinder. When the door or closure is latched, the key can then be used to lock or unlock the mechanism.

Using a key slam lock gives an additional level of security beyond the automatic latching mechanism, which can prevent unauthorised access even when the door or closure is latched. Having a key to unlock and open the door or closure means that keyed slam locks allow for controlled access and can be used in places where security is a priority. In domestic settings, key slam locks can be used on exterior doors, garage doors, storage units and sheds. In industrial locations, they can also be used to easily lock and secure storage areas, safes or cupboards containing confidential information or places such as rubbish storage areas or dangerous areas that need to be secured easily and quickly.

At FA Parkes, we stock slam locks by manufacturers such as Lowe & Fletcher and Dirak. They are made from materials such as die cast zinc, and some have chrome or chrome plated finishes. Please explore our multi buy and save offers available on our slam lock range.
