Keys - Tools

Universal tool keys are mostly used to access or operate different types of equipment, machinery or control panels or to open cupboards or doors in restricted areas. Some common types of mechanical tool keys include triangle keys that are often used for opening lift panels, on public transport and in different utilities, square keys that are commonly used in the HVAC industry and for some electrical cabinets, double-bit keys that are used in some older electrical panels and equipment and tubular keys that are found in vending machines and some computer locks.

Mechanical or universal tool keys offer several benefits. Having a set of universal keys allows technicians to carry a single set of tools that can access multiple types of equipment and this then reduces lost time spent searching for the right keys. Using tool keys can help to eliminate the need to purchase and maintain numerous individual keys for different pieces of equipment and this can reduce costs for companies that have large amounts of machinery. Specialised tool keys can also add a layer of security by preventing unauthorised access to sensitive equipment or areas and they are often more difficult to duplicate than standard keys, which reduces the risk of unauthorised copies. Also, with a universal set of tool keys, there are fewer keys to track and manage, which can reduce the risk of lost keys and any possible security breaches. In emergency situations, having a universal set of keys can allow technicians to quickly access and address issues without having to find a specific key.

We stock standard keys, square tube keys, triangular keys, hexagonal keys and carriage keys that can be used in many different situations. Our keys are made by manufacturers such as Weston Body Hardware, EMKA and Dirak and they are constructed from different materials like polyamide, die cast zinc and cast iron.
