Despite technological advances, locks remain crucial for security and protection. One of the most-popular and versatile types of locking mechanisms is the cam lock.

Cam locks have two main components that work together. The lock cylinder (sometimes known as the 'nut') is the main body which contains the internal locking mechanism within it. The key is inserted into the end of this cylinder. The cam itself is a small piece of metal, flat or curved, which is attached to the back of the lock cylinder. When the key is inserted and turned, the cam is rotated and engages or disengages the lock as required. The lock cylinder is usually secured using a fixing nut or clip, and sometimes a washer is also used to ensure a snug fit and prevent surface damage.

Cam locks are used in a wide range of applications, including drawers, cupboards, cabinets, desks, mailboxes, vending machines, display cabinets, electrical enclosures, access points, machinery panels, and lockers. Cam locks are a popular choice because they offer durability, versatility, and security while also being simple to install and use. They are produced in a wide variety of different configurations to suit varying security needs.
